Chapter 3 Eight Forms Taiji Quan
八式太极拳也叫一段太极拳,是中国武术段位制初段位技术规定教程的一段太极拳。其吸取了杨式太极拳中最为主要和基础的八个动作,即:卷肱式、搂膝拗步、野马分鬃、云手、金鸡独立、蹬脚、揽雀尾、十字手等。该套路内容精炼、重点突出,易学易记,动作柔和平稳,左右对称,是一套适合初学者练习的套路。
Eight Forms Taiji Quan is also called the first Duan Taiji Quan,according to the Chinese Wushu Duan System.It absorbs the most typical and basic eight movements of Yang Style Taiji,which are:Juan Gong Shi,Lou Xi Ao Bu,Ye Ma Fen Zong,Yun Shou,Jin Ji Du Li,Deng Jiao,Lan Que Wei,Shi Zi Shou,etc.These movements are simple, focused, easy to remember,soft and smooth;which is suitable for the beginners.
八式太极拳的分解教学(Step Teaching of Eight Forms Taiji Quan)
预备式:身体自然直立,两臂自然下垂,两脚并拢,头宜正直,下颌微收,两眼平视前方,心静体松(图18)。
Ready position:Stand upright with arms hanging natarally at both sides.Feet together,hold the head erect, with chin drawn slight inward. Look forward with tranquility in mind and relaxation in body(Fig.18).

要领:呼吸自然,两肩不可耸起,收腹敛臀,含胸拔背。
Key Points:Breathe naturally,don't shrug shoulders.
Draw in belly and keep buttocks in,draw chest in and keep back straight.
