Unit Project

This unit is about environmental protection. Though the opinions in the two texts are different, neither of them denies the fact that our earth is in danger and some measures need to be taken to protect the environment. One thing to do is to educate young people, and help them realize how serious the environmental problem is.

ln this unit project, you are asked to write a report on college students' awareness of environmental protection. Suppose that you serve at the Environmental Protection Club at your university. With the coming of World Environment Day, your club is planning a survey to find out how much college students know about environmental protection. To complete the project, you can follow the steps below.

1.

Work in groups of four or five and design a questionnaire on environmental protection. The following are some questions that can be included. Add more questions.

- Do you know which day is World Environment Day?

- Do you avoid littering in your daily life?

- If you go out to eat, do you use disposable meal boxes and chopsticks?

- Do you avoid throwing used batteries away carelessly?

- Do you always keep a handkerchief in yourpocket?

2.

Each of you interviews three to five students on campus. Take down their answersto your questions.

3.

Compare the answers you have got with other group members'. Draw a conclusion about students' awareness of environmental protection.

4.

Use the information you have collected to prepare a report and make an oral presentation to the class.
