Group Activity: Role-Playing a PTSD Patient's Visit to a Doctor
Task Description:
In this activity, you will role-play a scene in which a PTSD patient visits a doctor or mental health professional for a consultation.
Your group will demonstrate the patient’s emotional and psychological struggles, the doctor’s professional
approach to diagnosing and providing treatment, and the importance of understanding and
supporting individuals with PTSD.
Group Roles
PTSD Patient: The person experiencing the symptoms of PTSD. You will need to
show how PTSD affects your everyday life and communicate your fears and struggles.
Doctor: A healthcare professional who listens to the patient’s concerns, asks questions to diagnose the
situation, and provides a treatment plan. Focus on showing empathy and understanding.
You can also add more roles as youlike: e.g.Family Member(s): One or more members of the patient’s family who are
supporting the patient, either by providing emotional support or expressing their
concerns about the patient’s well-being.
