Task Card: Coffee Ordering Role-Play
Activity Type: Role-Playing Practice
Time: 15minutes (preparation) + 25 minutes(performance)
Group size: 4–9 students
Your Task:
You will act out a short conversation in a coffee shop. Choose your roles and write a
short script to act out ordering coffee in English. Your dialogue should sound natural,
polite, and culturally appropriate.
Roles You Can Use:
·Barista: takes the order, explains choices, answers questions
·Customer: orders drinks, asks for recommendations
· Friend: comments, helps choose
·Manager: introduces special drinks or discounts
· (You can be creative with your scene!)
Your Role-Play Should Include:
1. Greeting
2. Placing an order (at least one drink)
3. Clarifying details (size, milk, sugar, hot/iced)
4. Optional small talk (culture, taste, preference)
5. Payment / Farewell
Tips:
·Use polite, spoken English
· Include at least 2 “culture-aware” expressions
·Speak clearly and confidently
· Use props (paper cups, menus) if you like!
