Task Activity

I.  Make a comparison between western and Chinese table manners after watching the following video and reading the following passage about Chinese table manners.

II. Work in pairs, making up dialogues according to the following situations.

  • Suppose that you are at a restaurant with two foreign visitors who don't know much about Chinese food. Recommend some local  specialties, describe what they are, how to eat them and explain the way to cook them.

  • Imagine that you and your partner are planning a dinner out for 10 people. The budget is about 1, 000 yuan. You have to book a table in a restaurant and make out a list of the dishes you would like to have at dinner.
