II. What do you know about the following terms?

1. Cultural globalization: The transmission of ideas, meanings and values around the world in such a way as to extend and intensify social relations. This process is marked by the common consumption of cultures that have been diffused by the Internet, popular culture media, and international travel. This has added to processes of commodity exchange and colonization which have a longer history of carrying cultural meaning around the globe. 

2. homogeneous: Consisting of people or things that are all of the same type. 

3. Colonialism:The establishment of a colony in one territory by a political power from another territory, and the subsequent maintenance, expansion, and exploitation of that colony. Colonialism involves unequal relationships between the colonial power and the colony and often between the colonists and the indigenous peoples. 

4. Commercialization: Stage in product development process where the decision to order full-scale production and launch is made. To be specific, it is the process of introducing a new product or production method into commerce—making it available on the market. The term often connotes especially entry into the mass market (as opposed to entry into earlier niche markets), but it also includes a move from the laboratory into (even limited) commerce.

III. The Belt and Road

Directions: Watch the following video introducing the Belt and Road, and build your understanding on it. You should be able to introduce the following information in English:

IV. Finish reading Text I on page 171-174 before Wednesday's off-line class, and try to get a general idea of what the text is talking about based on what you've got from the online tasks. 下节课前完成课文阅读，根据自己对线上课程中的词汇、短语、语法的学习，自行补充语言知识方面的学习，但是不能在教材上课文中标注中文释义，可以积累到笔记本上。同时整理出对于课文语言表达方式方面的问题，带着问题进课堂。 课前阅读课文以便下节课更好的参与课堂活动。
