Teaching Objectives

6.1.1. Language Competence (语言能力目标)

(1) Ss will be able to master the key language points and grammatical structures in the text;

(2) Ss will be able to conduct a series of listening, speaking and writing activities related to the theme of Unit Five.

6.2.2. Moral Education (课程思政目标)

(1) Ss should be aware of the importance and benifits of playing sports and arouse their passion for sports;

(2) Ss should learn the qualities in Cliff Young, a farmer and amateur marathon athlete

(3) Ss should learn the sporting spirit;

(4) Ss should learn how an ordinary peroson made such a big difference by playing a sport.

6.3.3. Cross-Cultural Awareness (跨文化目标)

Ss will learn the differences of sports and sports spirit between China and western countries.

 

6.3.4. Critical Thinking (思辨目标)

 

By analyzing the text and summarizing its main idea, Ss will be able to cultivate their dialectical and critical thinking ability. They are reminded that victory isnt defined by wins or losses. It is defined by effort. If you did the best you could, then youre a winner.
