 (2): How would you respond?

Look back on your own experiences. Answer the following question by choosing the cases that apply to you and explain why. Please record your answer.

1)What are the negative impacts of failing to overcome fear?

A. Failing to engage in normal activities.

B. Getting frustrated and less confident.

C. Having sleeping problems.

2) What positive effects do you experience after you overcome your fears?

A) Acting more decisively.

B) Becoming braver and stronger.

C) Getting ready to face other challenges.

Key for reference

(1) engaging in; limit our success; prosper; stronger

(2) 1) Im so overwhelmed by fear that I cant focus on my daily activities. I just cant help thinking about the thing that I fear and I feel sad that I dont know how to overcome my fears. It makes me feel like Im not a strong person. As a result, I have become frustrated and less confident in myself. I sometimes even have sleeping problems because when I lay in bed, I continue to think about my failure to overcome my fears.

2) I will become braver and stronger because after overcoming my fears, I now realize that I’m more capable of handling my fears than I thought. This makes me feel more confident in myself. Since I know that I have the potential to deal with my fears, I am ready to face any challenges in the future.

Audio Script:

Fear is a natural emotion that helps keep us safe from the many dangers that exist in our world. When fears become exaggerated or irrational, they can have a negative impact on our lives. At its extreme, fear can paralyze us and keep us from engaging in normal, everyday activities such as going to work, doing exercise, and spending time with friends and family. Fear can also limit our success.

If we look around, we see people who have overcome their fears and prospered in life. They were able to act decisively even though they were fearful and scared, especially when they needed to help someone. Each time they did this, their confidence increased, as did their success. If we can overcome our fears and act, we can succeed and prosper. Not only that, we become braver and stronger. What fears do you want to overcome?
