Like many Chinese people, I have greatlove for my parents, but I find it difficult to say “I love you” to theirfaces.  Over 80 percent of surveyedcollege students said that they wanted to say “I love you” to their parents butfound it difficult or embarrassing to do so. Most Chinese parents would besurprised or amused if their children said “I love you” to their faces.

One way in which many Chinese peopleexpress their love for family members is through generosity and sharing. Thisincludes offering to help whenever they need it, cooking for them, or buyingthem things they need or want.
