1. define the pre-embryonic, embryonic and fetal periods of human development

2. discuss the changes taking place as the fertilised zygote travels down the Fallopiantube towards the uterus

3. describe the meaning of the following terms: zygote, cleavage, zona pellucida, morula, ovary, Fallopian tube, uterus

4. discuss the formation of the blastocyst and the initial stages of implantation

5. define sites for ectopic pregnancy and placenta praevia

6.describe the meaning of the following terms: blastocyst, trophoblast, inner cellmass, implantation, cytotrophoblast, syncytiotrophoblast

7.describe the formation of the embryonic disc in the inner cell mass and initial celldifferentiation within it

8. define the terms: bilaminar disc, germ layer, ectoderm and mesoderm

9.define the terms: primitive streak, gastrulation, trilaminar embryonic disc

10. list the important ectodermal, mesodermal and endodermal derivatives

11. define sites for ectopic pregnancy and placenta praevia and distinguish between these two implantation defects
