Reading Skills:
Knowing the reading skills is one of the most important parts of this course. They give us skills for understanding what we read. In this course we have studied three reading skills. First, to help us guess or infer word meaning from context. And second, to find the meaning of complex sentences through finding the main clause (SVO). And third, how to find the topic and main idea in a paragraph or passage.

Do you remember our first reading skill?
It was Context Clues to Word Meaning. We were looking at how to find the meaning of individual words we do not know.
What about our second reading skill?
It was Understanding Sentences. We were looking at decoding difficult sentences.
Now with the third reading skill we will be looking at paragraphs and articles.
Can you see the progression from small to larger parts?
