难点:流畅运用关键句型和词汇申请志愿者工作。

Words and expressions:
(1)讨论以下两个问题
1.Who are they? What are they doing? 引导学生复现有关志愿者及工作场景的词汇,如:volunteer, serve visitors, help sort the garbage…
2. What kind people are they? 引导学生们复现有关性格特点和能力特点的词汇主题相关词汇,如:Personality: patient, kind, active, careful, confident, cooperative …
Skill: be good at dancing/sports/drawing; love art/music; speak English well
(2)将材料1中关于志愿相关的活动图片和短语,学生将其进行匹配。
(3)Think and talk.
(1)处理教材活动2。学生分组讨论根据个人才艺与特长选择适合的志愿者活动。
(2)学生仿照教材活动 2,运用Brainstorm中出现的常见职业名称,小组内依次进行对话接龙。
eg: A: What kind of volunteer work do you want to do?
B: I’m good at ______________,I like______________. So I want to be a volunteer for ________________.

Peter: Hi, Lily! What did you do last weekend?
Lily: We went to a park to do some volunteer work.
Peter: Oh, what did you do there?
Lily: We picked up the rubbish, cleaned the chairs, and planted some trees.
Peter: How many volunteers took part in the activity?
Lily: About 20 students from our school.
Peter: How do you feel about the experience?
Lily: I’m happy that I can contribute a little bit. But we’re still short of helping hands.
Peter: I’d like to join and give a hand.

Sally, an overseas student from Canada, is talking with Mr Li, a volunteer service organizer.
Sally: Good morning, Sir. I’d like to be a volunteer at a rural elementary school in Gansu Province.
Mr Li: Amazing! Please introduce yourself.
Sally: I came to China three years ago. I major in Elementary Education in a university and I’ll graduate in July. I hope to help the students in rural areas and gain some teaching experience.
Mr Li: Have you done any volunteer work before?
Sally: Yes. I helped to collect some books and sent them to elementary schools.
Mr Li: How great! What can you help with at a rural school?
Sally: Besides English, I’m also good at information technology. I can teach them English and computer science.
Mr Li: How long do you plan to stay there?
Sally: About one year.
Mr Li: Thank you, Sally. We’ll consider your application and inform you of the result soon!
