A code is a system of symbols designed tobe applied to a classified set of items, to give a brief accurate reference, which helps entry into the records, collation and analysis.

A cost code is a code used. In a costing system.

The first step in creating a cost code will be to determine the cost centre to which the cost relates and then to allocate the correct cost centre code

If a cost relates to Machine Group 7 thecost centre code might be 07. If the cost relates to the canteen the cost centre code might be 16.
