Single-storey and Multi-storey Building

2.1 Single-storey and Multi-storey Building

Single-storey Building

A building that consists of a ground storey only is defined as single-storey building. 

Basements are not counted as storeys in a building. 

A separated part that consists of a ground storey only, with a roof to which access is only provided for repair or maintenance, may be treated as a single storey building.


Multi-storey Building

A multi-storey building is a building that has multiple storeys, and typically contains vertical circulation in the form of ramps, stairs and lifts.
