I. Warm up

1) Do you have difficulty in making requests? Why or why not?

2) Do you usually offer help?Why or why not?

3) How do you say the following expressions in English?

 G4不好意思，G5打肿脸充胖子，G6吃亏是福

II. Solo work

Work out a sentence by using new expressions at Page 59 and Page 60.

 

III. Pair work

1) You ask your roommate to take your books back to the library. But there are five thick books which are too heavy and too inconvenient to carry around. Your roommate refuses your request.

2) Your friend wants to borrow some money from you. But you’re broke yourself. Decline him/her.

3) Your roommate asks you to let him/her copy your homework. Be creative!

4) You can’t go to your class because you are running a fever. You are worried that you may lag behind with your study. Your roommates offers to help you by sharing her/his class notes.

5) You have a bad cold. Your friend offers to accompany you to the nearby hospital. At first, you don’t want to bother and say you would rather stay in the dorm and have a rest. But with your friend’s insistence, you decide to go with him/her.

 

IV. Group work
