Construction ethics

Construction ethics(道德规范)

Like other professions, construction is also guided by written laws (成文的法律)and unwritten moral and ethical codes(不成文的道德和伦理准则). Here is the code of the American Institution of Constructors.

A member shall have full regard to public interest in fulfilling his or her professional responsibilities.(成员在履行其专业职责时应充分考虑公众利益)

A member shall not engage in any deceptive practice.(成员不得从事任何欺骗行为)

A member shall not recklessly  injure or attempt to injure the professional reputation of others.

A member shall ensure that the advice they provide is fair and unbiased.(成员应确保其提供的建议公平公正)

A member shall not divulge confidential information to any person, firm or company, during the course of professional activities.  For instance,  letting a specific contractor or subcontractor know enough about the other bids so that he or she can bid below them to win the job. It is unmoral and unfair not to give every the same chance of winning the job. Maybe in a short term the owner and the specific contractor can get small profits, but in a long run, all of them get hurt.(成员不得在专业活动过程中向任何人或者公司泄密。

A member shall carry out his or her responsibilities in accordance with current professional practice.  Sometimes it is difficult to discern if certain ways of acting are unethical or simply economic business practice, such as the reduced use of steel in the frame.(成员应按照现行职业惯例履行其职责。

A member shall keep information of new concepts and development in the construction process.

One day, you will understand that it's harder to be kind than clever. Cleverness is a gift, kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy, they are given after all. Choices can be hard, you can seduce yourself with your gifts if you are not careful, and if you do, it'll probably to be the detriment of your choices.(终有一天,你会明白善良比聪明难。

 Conclusion

(Houses, apartments, factories, offices, schools, roads, and bridges are only some of the products of the construction industry. These industry activities include the building of new structures as well as additions and modifications to existing ones. The industry also includes maintenance, repair, and improvements on these structures.)

The construction industry is divided into four major sectors- residential, commercial industrial and infrastructure.

The opportunities in construction are endless. The future of construction is an exciting one.

Construction is guided by written laws and unwritten moral and ethical codes.
