The information gathered from the discussions will be prepared in readiness for a feasibi I ity study - the subject of the next stage - and include: 

a general outline of the client's requirements

a plan of future action

the setting up of an organisation for briefing the client

a consideration of the requirements

the appointment of a consultant - usually a civil engineer or an architect.


feasibility stage 

This is to determine whether or not it is feasible functionally, technically, financially, legally, and fi­nally to make decisions on future procedures: 

functional - are the client's wishes in sympathy with what is required?

technical - wi 11 there be any problems with the site conditions: boundaries, right of way or I ight, easements, services, etc?

financial - is there a budget and is the money guaranteed?

legal - will the proposal meet planning approval, preservation orders, avai la bi I ity of services, etc?
