Teaching goals

Upon completion of this unit, students are expected to:

■ have a thorough understanding of the text contextually and linguistically;

■ acquire useful language while exploring why some friendshipslast whereas others weaken and fall apart, and know how to use properly the key words and expressions in context;

■ know what to do to keep friendship alive by comparing it to a flower garden;

■ undertake a further exploration of friendship and friends in different countries;

■ talk about how to get along with a roommate;

■ write a well-developed paragraph about friendship by comparison(analogy).
