* Script:
The Other End of the Line
Granger: Ok, the big plasma TV (等离子电视) charge, that’s mine. You know, sometimes you just have to splurge (舍得花钱) and get yourself something you enjoy, live a little. Especially after a long day at the ofice.
Priya: I just have a cup of Chai (印度茶) . I mean, coffee.
Granger: (Chuckling) You are not fooling anyone. You Californians are all into your tofu and your sandals. You are probably a Dead Head (守旧的人) . Am I right, dude?
Priya: (Stuttering) Actually I just prefer jazz.
Granger: All right, here’s the question. Jalapenos (辣椒) in your grilled cheese, kicker (少放) or overkill (多放) ?
Priya: Kicker?
Granger: Absolutely. Hello! You still there?
Priya: And the charge to the Delicious Delights?
Granger: Biggest Amaretto (杏仁酒) cake known to man. My mother was having a lousy (很糟的) week. Sometimes you just want to show someone your care. Right?
Priya: Right. Okay, the last one. Um… The charges from New World Video.
Granger: Those were late fees (逾期费用) . I rented The Notebook. Don’t laugh.
Priya: Why would I laugh? I love that movie.
Granger: I don’t normally watch chick flicks (迎合年轻女性的影片) and I don’t even know if that classifies as one. But you ever watch a movie and just think that’s the way things should be? Like, someone puts themselves out there for someone or something and either they get it or they don’t.
Priya: But love’s worth it.
Priya’s colleage: Hi, this is Courtney Reese from City One. May I help you?
Priya: (Stuttering) I think that will take care of it for now. If any more charges come in, I’ll be in touch with you.
Granger: Great.
Priya: I failed to mention that you qualify for our platinum card (白金卡) . If you agree to a four-year term, I can get you a very attractive interest rate.
Granger: Four years? That’s quite a commitment (承担的义务) .
Priya: Just think of all the ribs you could eat, sir.
Granger: You don’t need to call me “sir”. I mean, hell, you know more about me than my own mother. Granger’s fine.
Priya: All right. Granger, be sure to contact us if you want an upgrade (升级帐户) and you should be expecting a new card soon. Thank you.

Ilsa: When will he be back?
Sam: Not tonight no more. He ain’t coming. Uh, he went home.
Ilsa: Does he always leave so early?
Sam: Oh, he never… well, he’s got a girl up at the Blue Parrot. He goes up there all the time.
Ilsa: You used to be a much better liar (说谎者) , Sam.
Sam: Leave him alone, Miss Ilsa. You’re bad luck to him.
Ilsa: Play it once, Sam. For old times’ sake (为了从前的日子) .
Sam: I don’t know what you mean, Miss Ilsa.
Ilsa: Play it, Sam. Play “As Time Goes By.”
Sam: Oh, I can’t remember it, Miss Ilsa. I’m a little rusty (迟钝的) on it.
Ilsa: I’ll hum (哼唱) it for you. Da-dy-da-dy-da-dum, da-dy-da-dee-da-dum…
Ilsa: Sing it, Sam.
Sam: [Singing] You must remember this / A kiss is just a kiss / A sigh is just a sigh / The fundamental (重要) things apply / As time goes by / And when two lovers woo / They still say, “I love you.” / On that you can rely / No matter what the future brings / As time goes by…
