Despite the efforts, the trapped people have not been able to be taken out of the one-meter-wide exit. They have little chance of surviving as there is no oxygen supply equipment, Edward said.

a. They pay much attention to their health.
b. They do more exercise than other people.
c. They have got enough sleep.
d. They sleep long hours than other people.
* Script:
No one knows why people sleep. But it is clear that people need to sleep. People who always don’t have enough sleep will cause serious problems. They may think less clearly and are likely to fall asleep during working hours.
There are no rules about sleep. Generally speaking, adults sleep for about seven and a half hours each night. 60 percent of adults usually sleep between seven and eight hours. But some adults sleep for less than ive hours while others for more than ten hours each night. If people feel all right, they have probably got enough sleep. It is not necessary to worry about how much other people get their sleep. Their needs may be different. More exercise doesn’t seem to increase the need for more sleep. For example, sleep for ofice workers is as long as sleep for sportsmen. Children get more sleep than adults. Most of them generally sleep over 10 hours each night.

* Script:
Before we start our first lab, I’d like to tell you a little bit about the workbook we’ll be using. The irst thing I’d like to point out is that the workbook contains a very large amount of material — far more than you could ever handle in a single semester. What you’re supposed to do is choose the experiments and activities that you want to do — within a certain framework of course. Part of my job is to help you make your choices. Next, I’d like to mention that in each workbook chapter, there are usually two subsections. The first is called “Experiments” and the second is called “Activities.” In the Experiments’ section, the workbook gives full instructions for all the experiments, including alternate procedures. Choose the procedure you wish — there’s plenty of equipment available. In the Activities’ section, you will ind suggestions for projects that you can do on your own time. You’ll see that there are usually no detailed instructions about the activities — you’re supposed to do them in your own way. If there are no questions, let’s turn to Chapter One now.
