One day, while I was walking on the street, a foreigner stopped me to ask for directions. Even though I listen to the English radio programs quite often, I still had trouble understanding his English. I took out my pen and a piece of paper to draw a rough map for him. After a few words of thanks he took my map and left. People are usually helpful to strangers. If you get lost, don’t hesitate to ask for directions. Now, get together in pairs and try to answer the following questions.
● Work with your partner, discussing the following questions, and then share your answers with the rest of the class.
1. If you get lost, who do you usually turn to for help? How do you ask your way?
2. If you see someone who seems to get lost in the street, will you go up to him/her and help him/her out?
3. How do you usually get to school? Try to name as many as possible of the vehicles that are popular in China.
