Case study-advertise for a GM

Part I. Prepare for a meeting.

  1. 1. Ask students to look through the background of the case and fill in the table on the computer screen. 

  2. 2. Teacher explains some difficult language points.

  3.     health and leisure clubs, sun decks, renew memberships, boost sales...

  4. 3. Ask students to give a briefing about the case.

  5. 4. Study the job ad by asking students about the elements that should be included in a job ad.

  6. 5. Ask students to translate the job requirement and qualifications.

  7. 6. Ask students to study the profiles of four candidates.


Part II.  Hold a meeting to dicuss the strengths and weakenesses of each candidate.

Design: The whole class is divided into six groups. Each group should have a chairperson and a secretary. The chairperson should chair the meeting and invite all members in the team to contribute to the meeting. The secretary should write down minutes and give a report about the the analysis in front of the class.

  1. Ask Ss to hold the meeting.
