Skills for social English

Part I. Warming-up

  1. Ask Students to present the cultural differences between China and America and Present details from the movie to support your findings.

  2. Teacher Expalins what is social and what is business?

Part II. Social English

  1. Ask Students to listen to the conversation between two people who have recently met. What is wrong? How can it be improved?

  2. Ask Students about what business situations would people use the words or expressions below? 

    congratulations! Cheers! Make yourself at home. It's on me. Excuse me...

  3. Ask Students to give responses in different situations.

    For example: you have to refuse an invitation to dinner with a supplier.

  4. Listen and Check your answers in 3.

  5. Play a social-cultural game.

Design: The whole class is divided into 6 groups. They stand in a queue and the first player in each team throws the dice and gets a number. Teacher will read the situation related to the number.If he or she wins, they will move on until the fail. Then the turn is for the next team. Any team who arrives at the terminal wins the game and they will win 2 points for the course score.
