4.5 Strategies for development
Finding a great topic for your academic paper (a topic about which you feel both knowledgeable and enthusiastic), researching the topic (to find out what has been said by the topic), shaping an outline for your discussions (e.g, how to organize the introduction, body, and conclusion), and writing the first draft---all these are important aspects in the process of writing a successful academic paper.
This part focuses on strategies for developing the paper fully so that your discussions are complete and can deliver what you want to get across convincingly. Specifically we will discuss the following seven strategies:
● Definition
● Classification
● Example
● Comparison and contrast
● Cause and effect
● Generalization
● Visual elements
Each of these strategies can be used for the development of a whole essay or part of it.
