  1. Discussion: Two promotions

    Teacher explains "Promotion".

    Ask Ss to read through two cases and find answers to questions 1-3 in case 1 and questions 1-2 in case 2.

    Teacher explains some difficult points.

    Teacher divides the whole class into six groups. Group 1,3,5 discuss the question: What can Harley Davidson do to preserve its sales? Should it change its brand image? Should it look for new market segments? Should it stretch its brand? Group 2,4.6 discuss the question: What sort of products do you think JCB developed as a result of its research? Can you think of a similar example of brand-stretching in your country?

    Each representative shall present their ideas.

  2. Skills training: Taking part in meetings.

    Listen to 1.5, finish Part A&B and finish exercises.

    Role-play: Tianhong, a large department store in Dongguan, Guangdong province is losing money. Its main product areas are food, clothing and household furniture. Seventy percent of its revenue comes from clothing, twenty-two percent from food and eight from furniture. Three directors of the company meet to discuss the company's problems and how to solve them.
