A: I have to go through customs formalities tomorrow, but there are so many issues to be dealt with in customs clearance for our import goods in China. Are there any details that can help ease (使…便利) the necessary clearance procedures?

B:Yes. Even though there is no success formula(公式)I believe there are some useful details for you to keep in mind.

A:Yes? What are they?

B:Firstly, the date of landing of the import goods should be duly noted and the time and details ofthe shipment should be promptly checked to ensure that customs declaration(报关) will commence(开始)with in the 14-day period prescribed by the customs.

A:I see. And what preparations should be made before the customs declaration?

B:Prior to the landing of the goods, all documents and invoices required for customs declaration should be prepared and checked before submission to the customs officer or agent for declaration purposes, A sum(一笔资金) equivalent to(相当于,等同于) the amount of customs duty (关税) charge able on the import goods should also be made available.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A:Yes, I understand. Are there any matters we should pay attention to during the process of customs clearance?

B:Definitely! Through out the process of customs clearance, designated staff member(专门指定的人员)from your company should keep in close contact with the customs officer oragent. Technical personnel(技术人员) should also be readily available to answer questionsfrom the customs to facilitate the examination of documents and assessment(估算)of duty(关税).

B:Let me see…ah, yes! As soon as the customs duty demand note(关税征收单) is issued, the customs duty and other relevant charges should be paid before the deadline so as to avoid paying overdue fine(滞纳金,过期罚金).

A:Yeah,that’sreally important!
