The Process of Film-making in America

                   The Process of Film-makingin America


How a film is produced and then shown to public:

Ø  Play (剧本):Usually the producer (制片人) makes the decision, sometimes the director (导演) does.

Ø  Money: Every film needs enough money till it is on.

Ø  Director and Actors/Actresses: The director is decided by the play, and the actors/actresses are chosen by the producer.

Ø  Shooting (拍摄): When everything is ready, the shooting begins.

Ø  Film editing (电影剪辑): The film-making company does, usually the director has no right to do that except A-list director(一线导演).

Ø  Publisher(出版商；发行人):Usually the publisher is not equal to the film-making company. They are different companies.

Ø  Publicity (宣传): The producer usually posts (张贴) posters (宣传海报) and does advertising to make the film known by public.

Ø  For blockbuster movies(卖座电影，大片), the film-making company will publish the films in other countries, dubbing(配音) in another language. And usually they will compete（参加…比赛） in the film-fest（电影节）.

The Pre-production（前期制作）

Ø  Producer(制片人): the leader, decide all the work

Ø  Director(导演):control the performance and the originality(创意)

Ø  Assistant Director (AD) (助理导演): manage the schedule and harmonize(协调) the rear(后方的)service(后勤服务)

Ø  Casting Director(选角导演): choose the appropriate actors/actresses

Ø  Location Manager(场地管理): manage the place for film-shooting

Ø  Production Manager(制片经理): make the budget and the shooting plan

Ø  Director of Photography (摄影指导): in charge of photography

Ø  Art Director(艺术指导):decide how to decorate the shooting location, clothes designing, hair style and dressing up

Ø  Production Designer (制作设计): build integral (整体的) atmosphere,control the visual effect

Ø  Sound Director (音效指导): take charge in all the sound used in the film

Ø  Sound Designer(音效设计): create new sound used in the film

Ø  Composer(作曲家) :create new music

Ø  Choreographer (舞蹈编导): create dance moves or martial (军事的；战争的) arts movements

The shooting（拍摄）

Ø  After the pre-production has been finished,the producer will employ the work group members mentioned in the pre-productionand then carry on the film-shooting.

The post-production（后期制作）

Ø  The main work is film editing----unite allthe clips(剪辑) with modern technology, and adapt(改编) the sound to the film.
