Branch Davidians are aChristian group that split from the Seventh-day Adventist Church. They had along history that ultimately led to the splinter group in Waco, Texas, led byDavid Koresh. His leadership brought questions to the organizations about humanrights and abuse issues. TimothyMcVeigh was an American domestic terrorist who detonateda truck bomb in front of the Alfred MurrahFederal Building in OklahomaCity on April 19, 1995. Alfred MurrahFederal Buildingwas a United States federalgovernment complex located at 200 N.W. 5thStreet in Downtown OklahomaCity, Oklahoma, United States. The building was the targetof the Oklahoma Citybombing on April 19, 1995, which killed168 people, including 19 children all under age 6. Half of the building collapsed secondsafter the truck bomb detonated. Waco is a cityin and the county seat of McLennanCounty, Texas, United States. On February 28, 1993, there was a shootout in which six Branch Davidians and four agents of the UnitedStates Bureau ofAlcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) died. After 50 days, on April 19, 1993, a standoff between FBI agents and Branch Davidiansended in a fire that destroyed their compound located in Mt. Carmel, near Waco.
