Exercise1: Listen to the news report and get the main idea.

This news is mainly about ______________.

A        life of Britney Spears as botha performer and a mum.

B         what made Britney Spears thehighest-paid female in Hollywood

C         the speculation on herconservatorship headed by her father Jammy Spears

D        the popularity of BritneySpears among American youngsters

Exercise2: Listen to the news report again and fill in the blanks with the exact wordsor phrases.

George Stephanopoulos: An inside look at the mind-boggling budget of Britney Spears. Howmuch she makes? And what it   1   to keep up that lifestyle? ABC’s Lindsey Davis has been poring over thespreadsheets. And she is here to tell. Good morning, Lindsey.

Lindsey Davis: Goodmorning to you, George. Oops, she did it again. Britney Spears is back on Forbes2012 List of Hollywood’s Highest-Paid Females. But this time, she is   2   Oprah. Britney Spears is nowworth an estimated   3   dollars, raking in just 58million last year alone. Britney Spears has been   4   her way to the top of theCharts for more than a decade. At just 30 years old, her reign as the “Queen ofPop” has been a   5   one. Earlier this month,Forbes named her the second highest-paid woman in Hollywood, with estimatedearnings of $ 58 million in the past 12 months. (Britney Spears: You can't destroy that song, sweetie.) And thatdoesn't even count her reported 15 million-paycheck as the newest   6   on the X Factor. So how doesa hardworking woman spend all that cash? An itemized list of Britney Spears'2010 expenses were recently submitted to the court. Her fortune has been undera conservatorship, headed by her father Jamie Spears since the singer's verypublic breakdown   7  .

Melanie Bromley (SeniorManaging Correspondent): There’s a lot ofspeculations as far as when the conservatorship will   8  . But right now, she seems happy with the way things are workingout. And the people around her seem happy with it too.

Lindsey Davis: Ofcourse, maintaining the lifestyle of a musical superstar isn’t cheap. Wanna getBritney’s look? It’s gonna cost you roughly 2500 in hair and makeup, 4,000 inmassages, grooming and nails and about 54,000 in clothes. Keeping the SpearsEstate running like clock-work also comes   9  . Living expenses like dry cleaning, pet care, household suppliers, groceries and travel, nearly $180, 000. And while we will never fullyunderstand the circus that can be the life of a celeb, in some ways, Britney isjust like the rest of us: she regularly goes to stores like Target, CVS, T. J.Maxx and Sears. And mom to 6-year-old Jayden James and 7-year-old Sean Preston,Britney’s shopped at Gap Kids, Kids Foot Locker and Toys R’Us.

Melanie Bromley: I thinkBritney does live quite a frugal life. She’s really not living   10  , especially compared to other Hollywood stars.

Lindsey Davis: Ratherfrugal. Spears edged out Taylor Swift by a cool mill, All Spears’ earnings fromMay 2011 to May 2012 were largely from her world tour, and also some hugeendorsements. We reached down to the Spears camp, they said “Hit me baby onemore time.”

Allanchors: No!

Lindsey Davis: No, no, they had no comments!

(All laughing)
