Text A Overview: Human Perception
Pre-reading Activities:
1. What are the five basic senses? Do you agree or disagree that our senses have some limitations? Why?
2. Form groups of four or five. Look at the following pictures and write down a few words for each picture to describe your perceptions about the following questions:
What can you see in these pictures?
What does everyone in each picture look like?
What are the people doing?
What is their relationship to one another?
Why are they doing so?

After answering the questions, share with your group members what you have written down. Try to discuss why you and your group members give different answers. What factors do you think influence your perceptions of the picture?

Find out the answers to the following questions:
1. What is the title of Text A? How do you understand it?
2. Please write down the subtitle(s) in Text A and make clear the structure in the text.
3. Read Text A, and underline the content that you think are important.
4. What is sensation? How do we sense the outside world? What specific limitations do we have when we are sensing the outside world?
5. What is perception? And what different stages are there in perceiving the outside world? What should we pay attention to in each stage?
