Text A Defining Cultural Patterns

Text Study:

Read Text A through Page 205 to Page 207 to get the key idea of this text. The following is the text audio for your reference.

1. Could you give some examples to explain the obvious cultural differences?


2. What are cultural patterns? Which words are unfamiliar? And underline the key words that you think are very important.

3. Could you give some examples to explain contradictory values in a particular culture?

Read Text B through Page 210 to Page 215 to get the key points of the text. Below is the text audio for you to follow. 


After reading the texts, try to find out the answers to the following questions:

1. What is the title of Text B? What are involved in it?

2. Please write down the subtitles of Text B and make clear the structure in the text.

3. Read Text B, and underline the content that you think are important.

4. Please read Table 8 on Page 212, and think about types which are included in the value.

5. How many types do social practices involve? What are they?

6. Could you give some examples to explain the informal and formal social practices?

7. What are the core socialist values of our country? Can you write out all of them both in Chinese and English?
