After class Task 6
Read the passage .
The hippie movement was originally a youth movement that arose in the United States during the mid-1960s and spread to other countries around the world.
The hippies freed themselves from social restrictions, rejected middle-class values and the teachings of earlier generations. They sought to find new meaning in life through creating a culture of their own. “Peace, love, and understanding” is one of the slogans popularized by the hippies.
The hippies expressed their love of freedom and nature through their appearance. They often had long hair and beards, wore bright-colored jeans and ethnic clothes, particularly from India and the Far East. And their clothes were usually handmade and composed of natural materials. Men and women often also wore similar styles to reflect their strong belief in sexual equality.
