“Wadang” refers to the cover of the front end of the canopies in ancient Chinese architecture. It especially refers to the constructive accessories used to decorate, beautify and protect the eaves of buildings in the Eastern and Western Han dynasties. “Wadang” were engraved with texts and patterns. The tiles in the front end of the eaves were called “Wadang”, with patterns on which surface to hang round blocks.

With flowing and varied fonts on them, the patterns of “Wadang” were beautifully designed, such as cloud patterns, geometric patterns, gluttony patterns, text patterns, animal patterns and so on. They were exquisite works of art, belonging to the unique cultural and artistic heritage of China.
