Cultural globalization: The transmission of ideas, meanings and values around the world in such a way as to extend and intensify social relations. This process is marked by the common consumption of cultures that have been diffused by the Internet, popular culture media, and international travel. This has added to processes of commodity exchange and colonization which have a longer history of carrying cultural meaning around the globe.
homogeneous: Consisting of people or things that are all of the same type.
Colonialism:The establishment of a colony in one territory by a political power from another territory, and the subsequent maintenance, expansion, and exploitation of that colony. Colonialism involves unequal relationships between the colonial power and the colony and often between the colonists and the indigenous peoples.
Commercialization: Stage in product development process where the decision to order full-scale production and launch is made. To be specific, it is the process of introducing a new product or production method into commerce—making it available on the market. The term often connotes especially entry into the mass market (as opposed to entry into earlier niche markets), but it also includes a move from the laboratory into (even limited) commerce.
III. The Belt and Road
Directions: Watch the following video introducing the Belt and Road, and build your understanding on it. You should be able to introduce the following information in English:
