Reading Skill: Identifying Paragraph Transitions

The ideas of one paragraph are often connected with the ones of the next paragraph  through paragraph transitions, which are often made by repeating parts of an idea from the previous paragraph. For example:

(The paragraphs are taken from Passage B.)

Fifth, you look at the person's answer and check it. If it does not answer your question, you try again, perhaps asking your question another way. When the response answers your question, you are finished. (Para.7)

After getting a correct answer, you probably assumed that the person in the room was a Chinese speaker and perhaps even an intelligent one. However, the conclusion would be false. Instead, the story shows how computers seem intelligent when they are simply consulting rules and large volumes of information. The computer making these calculations is not intelligent. (Para. 8)

Please find out more paragraph transitions in Passage B.

For your reference:

However, the conclusion would be false.
