Reading skills: how to read in thought groups

tips: 

  1. read for ideas: an idea is usually contained in a group of words

  2. read from thought group to thought group

  3. make less stops in reading

Guidance for learning

1.      Fast-reading.Read the text quickly: the first and the last paragraph+the beginning sentenceof each paragraph.

2.      Read theword list aloud. If you are not sure about your pronunciation, please readafter the tape.

3.      Read the text twice more and sum up the main idea: what is this article about? What details do you notice? Try to answer these questions with the book closed.

4. Write down your answers to questions in Ex3 on P53.

5. Pay special attention to the following sentences ant try to put them into Chinese

1) He nods, puts his hands on the arms of his wheelchair, whispers something that makes little sense.
