Activity Time

Activity 

Activity 1:

Mother’s Day is coming. Wang Yang wants to buy a gift for his mother, so he calls her to ask what she would like. Having known his mother’s need, WangYang goes online to choose the gift. make a dialogue with your partner.

Tell your partnerwhat kind of gift you will choose for your mother and explain the reasons.

Activity 2:

Group work: students are randomly divided into several groups. Teacher write several traditional Chinese holidays on the paper. Lots had to be drawn to decide the task.  Team members prepare related information of the holiday(information included: What is the story of this holiday, food, custom, why celebrate.), and share with the classmates.

This activity can also be designed as a game:

Question and Guess.

Activity 3:

Team work: introduce traditional Chinese food of certain holiday and share with the classmates. Student can make a video or ppt to give the presentation.

Activity 4:

Work in pairs. Role-play a conversation as if you were in the following situations. You canrefer to the given tips.


Topic: New year's Day is coming. Talk with your father/mother about a visit to your relatives.

Activity 6:

Mother’s /Father's Day is coming. Write an essay of about 100 words on the topic “An Unforgettable Experience with MyMother /Father/ Parents”. Try to write an essay.

Activity 7:

Write an E-mail to your foreign friend Kate, tell her something about Chinese festival. Tell her what people usually do on that day.

Activity 8:

 Latern festival is coming, you are responsile for the organization of an activity, please make an activity plan to celebrate this festival.
