Reading Comprehension
Nowadays people reserve their rooms in a hotel in many ways. They can send mails through the Internet and some will go directly to the hotel and make their reservation in person or make the reservation by making a phone call. Sometimes we can still find that people use fax to have their reservation made.

Usually the booking process of hotel reservation is of six steps. It begins with the inquiry in person, a phone call from all over the world or an E-mail. Then the reservationist needs to check if the hotel has any vacant rooms during the time that the customer has specified before he makes a reservation including the guest's name, home address, phone number, expected arrival and departure time; sometimes special requirements should also be taken down. The reservationist will maintain the record by making any changes or canceling some reservations as required. Eventually the reservationist in charge of the day should summarize the daily reservations into his/her management reports.
In order to do his/her job well, a reservationist should be patient, master good English, and be warmhearted, but these are not enough. To be a good reservationist requires constant improvement to provide satisfactory service for all customers.
