1 Plants synthesize carbs in their leaves, in which chemical energy is produced fromwater, minerals, and carbon dioxide with the aid of pigments and the radiantenergy of the Sun.

2 They can make food becausetheir leaves contain a chemical called chlorophyll.

3 Roots. Plants absorbnutrient and water from the soil through the roots.
