characteristic of life

characteristic of life:

1 growth:

   seedling-tree

   lamb-sheep

   puppy-dog

   ......

living things—— we all can absorb nutrient and growth (inner change).

non-living things—— they growth due to adding new same material on surface. eg. ice.

2 reproduction:

individual from generation to generation depend on reproduction.  so, individual died, but gene from parent continue on this world, we called this heredity.

3 cell:

cell is the basic unit of life.

4 metabolism:

metabolism occur every second in our body.

anabolism—— we absorb nutrient from environment and turn them into energy we can use and material we can store. this process is called anabolism.

catabolism—— breakdown in living organisms of complex substance into simple one and release energy at the same time.

if metabolism stop, it means the living organism is dead.

5 respond to stimuli:

   many plants growth towards sun;

our hands draw back quickly when we touch hot things.

if a living organism cann't respond to the stimuli, it means it is dead.

question: virus! is virus a type of life? can you say something about it?
