Part 1: Lead- in

Weatherplays a very important role in people’s daily life. There is a great differencein the climate between the northern part and the southern part of China. In theSouth, summer is very hot and muggy with a lot of rain, while winter is mildwith no snow at all. In the North, summer is sunny and mild, while winter iswindy and cold with a lot of snow.

 

 Work with your partner, discussing the followingquestions, and then share your answers with the rest of the class.

1. Do you know the words to describe different kinds ofweather? 

* suggested answer:

Sunny, rainy, cloudy, overcast, snowy, windy, etc.

 

2. Where do you usually get your weatherinformation? 

* suggested answer:

I usually get weather information from the TV, radio,newspaper or  Internet.

 

3. Which do you like better, hot weather or cold weather?Why?  

* suggested answer:

I like hot weather better than cold weather, because my favorite sport isswimming. I often go swimming and enjoy the sunshine at the beach.
