Listening

知识与技能:

1. To improve the students’ listening comprehension and oral English.

2. To know some intelligent people and command how to give reasons for having done or not doing something .

Improve the students’ listening comprehension and oral English.


Audio-lingual method; audio-visual approach; communicative approach;

situation teaching approach


Learning through listening and speaking

Show students some famous people ,and ask them to match them with their names .

Ask Ss to tick the qualities that will help people become more intelligent.

Step I: New words and expressions

Lead Ss to read and learn the new words and expressions. (from “IQ” to “rush hour”) 

Step II: Learning the new part

1) Listen to finish Task 1 

2) Listen to categorize the expressions as approval or disapproval.

3) Listen to tick true or false

4) Underline the key phrases(adapt to changes, acquire knowledge, motivate oneself , a gifted child, go far )

1)Listen and find out what excuse is given in each item.

2)Listen again and complete the conversation with the sentences in the box

3)Underline the key phrases or sentences( get stuck in traffic, have an emergency, get around, rush hour, make an excuse )

Step III: Explanation of language points 

 Ss learn the new language points of this part after the T by dealing with “课堂精讲精练”

Step IV: Production

Consolidate what we’ve learnt in class by asking them to read the dialogue together or in groups. 

Finish the exercises in the students’ book.





Learn the key phrases and sentences by heart and get prepared for a dictation.
