
The young girl Maria is a nun in Salzburg convent, but she always gets into trouble because she is lively and active. Mother Abbess thinks she is not fit to be a nun, so she decides to send Maria to Captain Von Trapp’s home to be his children’s governess and makes her find the real goal of life. When Maria arrives at the captain’s home, she finds the captain is strict with his seven children. And she also knows why all teachers left. Because the children made fun of the teachers in order to attract their father’s attention. Captain demands Maria like him to treat his children but Maria doesn’t do as that. Her gentleness and kindness win the children’s friendship finally.
When the captain goes to Vienna,Maria and the children break all the rules. She even teaches them how to sing.When the captain returns he learns Maria has brought music back into the houseand is quite touched. But despite her success as a governess, Maria runs away from the Von Trapps back to the convent. Mother Abbess knows from their talk that she’s in love with the captain. Not giving in to her pleas to remain at the convent, Mother Abbess sends Maria back to the Von Trapps. Maria comes back only to find that Baroness Schneider is engaged to the captain. She is at a loss, but it turns out that the captain is actually in love with her. So the engagement is cancelled and Maria and Captain Von Trapp get married. The Nazis cause the newly weds and their family quite a bit of trouble as they attempt to draft Captain Von Trapp into the navy of The Third Reich. Captain hates Nazi’s behavior, so he decides to leave
