This course employs a comprehensive evaluation system that emphasizes continuous learning and the practical application of knowledge. The final grade is a combination of Formative Assessment (70%) and Summative Assessment (30%), designed to reflect your entire learning journey.

The assessment strategy is designed to evaluate both consistent, ongoing learning throughout the process (Formative Assessment) and comprehensive mastery of the course material at the end of the course (Summative Assessment).

• Formative Assessment (70%)

This category evaluates your ongoing engagement and understanding throughout the learning process, accounting for 70% of your final grade.

1. Chapter Tasks (30%): This score is automatically generated based on your completion of systematic learning checkpoints. It primarily reflects metrics such as video lecture completion and course material study time, ensuring you maintain consistent progress and engagement with all core learning materials.

2. Assignments (10%): These are unit consolidation assignments designed to reinforce and solidify the vocabulary foundation of each unit. Timely and quality submission is required to build knowledge progressively.

3. Discussion (10%): This grade is based on your active participation in the course discussion forums and other Q&A interactions. It encourages collaborative learning and the practical application of vocabulary in communication.

4. Chapter Tests (20%): A series of tests covering knowledge from Chapters 1 through 6. These tests feature a variety of question types and provide immediate feedback. The system typically allows multiple attempts, recording the highest score to encourage mastery of each unit's content.

• Summative Assessment (30%)

This category consists of two proctored exams designed to comprehensively evaluate your overall achievement of the course objectives.

1. Mid-term Test (10%): This is a closed-book, online exam proctored by the system's automated monitoring tools. It covers key vocabulary and comprehensive application skills from Units 1 to 3.

2. Term Test (20%): This is a closed-book, online exam and serves as the culminating assessment for the entire course. It is also proctored automatically and covers key vocabulary and comprehensive application skills from all units (1 to 6).

   
   

Policies

• Exam Administration: Both the Mid-term test and term test are conducted online as closed-book examinations. The course platform's automated proctoring system will be in use during these exams.

• Unit Test Flexibility: The unit tests are designed for learning reinforcement. You are allowed multiple attempts for each test, with the system recording your highest score. This encourages mastery of each unit's content.

• Importance of Process: The 70% allocated to formative assessment underscores the course's emphasis on consistent, engaged learning. Regularly watching videos, participating in discussions, and completing unit tests are crucial for success.

• Academic Integrity: Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic honesty. Any violation (such as dishonesty on exams or plagiarism in interactions) will be handled strictly, potentially resulting in a failing grade or more severe disciplinary action.
