National Bird

      The bald eagle（白头海雕）is both the national bird and national animal of the United States of America. It was chosen in 1782 as the emblem of the US because of its long life, great strength and majestic looks,and also because it was then believed to exist only on the continent of North America. The bald eagle is important in various Native American cultures and is prominent in seals and logos, postage stamps, and other items relating to the U.S. federal government.
