Overall, Britain maintains a lower rate of unemployment and crime, especially crime involved in violence, which may be the result of the social welfare policy and the British characteristics such asself-control and mildness.
More and more people live in a prosperous life in Britain, but there are still some people living under the poverty line in poor surroundings, who can barely support their children to finish school. without enough knowledge for a decent job in modern society, their children have little hope to break away from poverty and then turn into the real lower class. As they usually live in the neglected neighborhoods, vandalism and rowdiness by youths of the lower class become a problem in some big cities.
Two other things bother Britons a lot are Brexit and terrorist attacks.
The British people have endured multiple politically motivated attacks, attacks by right-wing extremists and attacks b yIslamic extremists over the last few decades.
As to Brexit, it was the withdrawal of the UnitedKingdom from the European Union. Following a UK-wide referendum in June 2016,in which 52% voted to leave and 48% voted to remain in the EU, the British government formally announced the country's withdrawal in March 2017, beginning the Brexit process. The biggest reason why people vote to leave the EU was their belief that the UK should be a self-governing entity. People did not want their country to be accountable to a supranational body’s rules and regulations. The withdrawal was delayed by deadlock in the British parliament. Following a general election, Parliament ratified the withdrawal agreement, and the UK leftthe EU at 11 p.m. GMT on 31 January 2020. This began a transition period that is set to end on 31 December 2020, during which the UK and EU will negotiate their future relationship. The UK remains subject to EU law and remains part of the EU customs union and single market during the transition, but is no longer part of the EU's political bodies or institutions.
