Script: 

1. This year, 2019, the People's Republic of China, is celebrating her 70th birthday. In 30 years time, she will be 100 years old, a good time to tell a big story about her national rejuvenation. 

2. China has always been a story land. With stories told, written and passed on — stories about the land and her people , their desires and agonies, their aspirations and struggles, and their dreams and realizations. 

3. In 1949, this land told the world a “big story” about how Chinese people fought for national independence and liberation, and how they became the masters of the nation.  At the end of the 20th century, China told a “big story” about how the Chinese people strived for economic development through reform and opening-up and how the nation became an important contributor to global economic progress. 

4. Now, on her 70th birthday, China is telling another “big story”, a story about a nation's transformation, from standing-up to growing prosperous, achieving what was thought impossible and approaching her first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. 

5. Behind all the stories are the founding fathers, our grandfathers and grandmothers, and our fathers and mothers. We are immensely proud of the generations who worked miracles to create modern China. They were great story tellers, passing the story telling baton(接力棒) from generation to generation, and now to us. 

6. In 2049, when China has reached her second centenary goal of realizing national rejuvenation, when China has built a modern socialist country that is prosperous , strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious, she will tell the world how hand in hand her people and the rest of the world have accomplished this new story. 

7. And you, the university students of today, will be part of China's new story and will have written your own stories. Tell us what you think your own big story will be in 30 years’ time —— in 2049. Remember that you should provide your own subtitle. My big story in 2049: _____________________
