inception stage
The information gathered from the discussions will be prepared in readiness for a feasibility study - the subject of the next stage - and include:
• a general outline of the client's requirements
• a plan of future action
• the setting up of an organisation for briefing the client
• a consideration of the requirements
• the appointment of a consultant - usually a civil engineer or an architect.
feasibility stage
This is to determine whether or not it is feasible functionally, technically, financially, legally, and finally to make decisions on future procedures:
• functional - are the client's wishes in sympathy with what is required?
• technical - will there be any problems with the site conditions: boundaries, right of way or light, easements, services, etc?
• financial - is there a budget and is the money guaranteed?
• legal - will the proposal meet planning approval, preservation orders, availability of services, etc?
