The types of work commonly under the control of the building sur-veyor are:
conservation of listed buildings and monuments of architectural or historic importance, to ensure any repair/restoration work is carried out properly and correctly
the diagnosis of building defects and the remedial work necessary, advice on energy conservation and energy conservation methods through the use of approved insulation
egotiation of building wats wit he appopriat: authorities, in order to meet restoration/refurbishment demands
• general control and management of a building programme, especially restoration of historic or other important structures
• property surveys* of a general and structural nature. This will include surveys of houses which are for sale and subject to loan agreements, as well as structural surveys conducted prior to restoration or refurbishment.
