The services engineer is a relative new­comer to the industry but an increasingly important one. He or she is responsible for all those items that go to make life much more pleasant for all of us both at work and at home via their work on hot & cold water, heating, ventilation, lighting, sys­tems, etc. 

• mechanical engineer - responsible for the design of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, gas and water services, etc

• electrical engineer - responsible for anything electrical, includ­ing lifts (elevators), escalators and increasingly, computer sys­terns and security systems.
